Comparisons
The four seed essays of Days 17–18 are chosen by the editors. Every comparison after them is demand-led: topics are picked from what readers actually search for, not from an editor’s list.
Comparisons I — Day 17
- How Church Fathers preserve Jewish traditions absent from surviving rabbinic texts — Justin, Origen, Eusebius and the fragments volume: traditions quoted or argued with that have no surviving rabbinic parallel, and one famous case where the “lost tradition” is probably not lost at all.
- Septuagint versus Hebrew readings, with manuscript evidence — selected passages where the Greek reading diverges from the Masoretic reading, with the Dead Sea Scrolls and other witnesses named, and the Greek quoted from the public-domain Swete edition.
Coming next
Day 18 adds two further essays: Greek philosophical terminology in Philo and early Jewish literature, and parallel passages between ancient authors, drawn from the Connections index.
