Presbyterorum Ordinis, 7 December 1965
The decree on the life and ministry of priests. It presents the dignity of the priesthood and the priest's configuration to Christ the head and shepherd; treats the worldwide distribution of priests, their just support, and the fostering of vocations; and gives directives on priestly spirituality — obedience, celibacy, poverty in spirit, and pastoral charity — and on the cooperation of priests with bishops and with the laity.
